The Festival of Trotter Breeds” North-West Trotters” took place on May 1 in the framework of “Hipposphere” Trade Fair. The Festival has already become a traditional show organized in assistance with the “Russian Trotters Association” and Horse-breeding Research Institute.
The Festival’s program included 4 demonstrations with Orlov and Russian trotters from St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Tver Regions. For the first time there were introduced trotters of Novotomnikov horse-breeding factory from Tambov Region. Several years ago the enterprises almost seized to exist and survived due to the efforts of Olga Staroverova, factory’s director and real field professional. Thanks to her work, we can now enjoy the beauty of Orlov trotters.
Orlov trotters were demonstrated by the best breed representatives both mares and stallions. Many horses were born in the Leningrad Region.
The last demonstration was devoted to the beautiful Orlov mares – five amazing trotters of different ages. Orlov trotters always draw much public attention and arouse sponsors’ interest. The best Orlov mare Kudesnitsa was awarded with a personal horse -cover and prize from St. Petersburg enterprise “Ladoga +”. “Ingosstrakh” insurance company and “Fremad Russia” travel agency also provided personal prizes for Orlov trotters.
The mare named Kudesnitsa was chosen as the absolute champion of all demonstrated Orlov Trotters. The horse was awarded with the horse-cover from the specialized equestrian magazine “Hippomania”.
The Festival ended up with the awarding ceremony for the senior-equestrian of the Leningrad Region Nicolay Bolstren. In 2010 he and two of his Russian trotters set the Russian record at the Central Moscow and Ramensk hippodromes.
